Tip for Smart Shopping

Shopping Tip for the Emotional Shopper

There is an old saying, “Never go shopping at a grocery store while you are hungry.” The problem is that you spend from your stomach and not your budget. You will buy unnecessary items just because you are hungry, like snacks, and all kinds of impulse items found at the cash register. As much as I know this, I still must eat before going shopping. It drives me crazy; but it saves me money…lots of money!

So, what do you think happens when you go clothes shopping and you are thinking about your special friend or a big party coming up, or even about the prom? Believe me, most of the time you are done before you even enter the first store. Done, done, done! Everything becomes more important than your budget. So, budget first, take only the money you can afford to spend, and then go shopping.

Budget your money before you go shopping or else you will most likely fall victim to emotional spending. This is when your emotions take over your behavior and decision. Your emotions decide to put “needs” and “wants” into one basket, with the “wants” on top. Grab your MindSet and shake out the emotions when you reach for your money. Both elements, your thoughts and your emotions, will take you to another level and away from your budget.

Learn to prepare your shopping venture, stretch your dollars. Remember, spending is the foundation of creating wealth.
